Civic Trust Awards

Award Categories

The Civic Trust Awards scheme annually recognise projects from the UK and overseas with Special Awards, Awards and Highly Commended.

We have four entry categories that projects can be entered into:

  • Civic Trust Awards "Standard" (one individual building, structure or space)

  • Civic Trust Awards "Large/Multi-Use Projects" (multiple buildings, use classes, structures or spaces on one site by the same architecture practice/design team) You must state the number of buildings, structures or spaces within the entry to be judged.

  • Pro-Tem Awards (for temporary projects or installations) You must state if the project or installation is still in situ.

  • AABC Conservation Awards (projects which demonstrate the highest standards of historic building conservation)

Please ensure that you enter your project into the correct category. Should your project be entered into the incorrect category, then unfortunately it will be deemed unsuccessful at the first stage assessment.

Projects can be entered separately into both the Civic Trust Awards and AABC Conservation Awards, should all criteria requirements be met.

All schemes are judged and considered on their own merit. The very best in architecture and design which is sustainable, accessible and has made a positive impact on the community they serve are recognised with Awards or Highly Commended each year.

Award winning projects are also considered for one of the much coveted Special Awards. These recognise outstanding work in specific fields such as Sustainability, Community Engagement, Reuse & Adaptation, Education, Restoration and Transportation & Infrastructure.

Should your company or organisation be interested in sponsorship of a Special Award, please contact the Awards Team by email to info@civictrustawards.org.uk to discuss this opportunity.

Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design

Established in 2011, the Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design is delivered in parallel with the Civic Trust Awards application process, with all projects entered automatically considered for the Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design.

Winners are selected by a specially convened panel of universal design experts who seek to celebrate places that are responsive, flexible, welcoming, easy to use and occupy; allowing all to use with dignity and equality.

To be considered for the SGA’s your project should have gone beyond building regulations, as a minimum, using best practice guidance, putting people at the heart of the project and showing exemplar design.
